Imagix
I have a bunch of very messy/triangulated object that I need to clean up. I find tha unmesh, reduce and object doctor is not really doing the job well. Does anyone have efficient recommendations? Ship-deck attached. palarsen
Object doctor!
Imagix
Object doctor seems to do the same as unmesh and allthough it removed almost half the faces there is still lot's of overly triangualted faces left.
palarsen
Re-model better geometry! Its fun!! Or use magic /Petter
Tech
Hi Imagix, Yes, as Petter notes if this is all you have, then remodeling it will be the best way to get the desired results. However, if that geometry is Smooth in the originating program, if you Export that using a Smooth format (DWG, STEP, etc), and Import it as Smooth, then you will have other more direct options. Justin Montoya
Reduce Mesh sometimes helps.
Tech
Hi Justin, The Reduce Mesh tool can help reduce the complexity of objects but it is generally not a great solution as it will generate non planar faces -- and once those faces are triangulated, may not result in a significantly reduced object. Using Object Doctor or UnMesh, or Converting a Smooth object at the desired resolution will generally produce much better / cleaner results...
