Transparent background

Hi!

Can someone help me. I try to figure out how to make a transparent background to an image file in V-Ray. I know how to do it in renderzone.

I've got some weird result with V-Ray so I'm not sure if there is a bug or is it just my incompetence.  :D

You can put your image in "diffuse colour...image file" and a separate file with the alpha mask only in "opacity...image file" this will render the black part of the mask transparent

Windows or Mac?

I say that because when I save a PNG image out of the VFB in Windows, it has a transparent background.  I don't think this is what you really want, but just sharing.  I think this is a bug, but it's the way it works right now.

I believe you want to use the Render Elements in the Vray settings palette.  You can save various 'render channels' to separate files or even the same file for post production work.  The VFB is really powerful.  More info here - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/VRAYSKETCHUP/V-Ray+Frame+Buffer+%7C+VFB

Thanks R2D2!  :)

I got it now. The separate file for the alpha mask was the key.

Is there a way to control how many times the image repeats itself, similar to renderzone?

Make your plane roughly the proportions that your image has.

(Maybe it helps to make the alpha a bit bigger and center the Logo in it)

Then you can scale the object with the texture.

Use edit texture and set "proportions" to (your image) , finally adjust the segments using interactive display.

R2D2 thank you for your help. It looks that it has to done like you said. In renderzone it doesn't need so much fiddle of the model.
