David Lemelin
Hi Guys, Every so often I bring SketchUp models into my FormZ work. This used to work through the Import menu, but after upgrading to 8.5.6 that ability doesn't seem operational. Did I miss something in the memo? etroxel
I see it in the Mac version. What version are you using?
Tech
Hi David, SKP should be an option. If you click on the Automatic option at the bottom of the Import Options: Do you see SKP listed there? If not, which operating system are you using? And did you install v8.5.6 directly, or patch to that from a previous version?
David Lemelin
Hi there, Yes, I am using 8.5.6 and was able to update it from the previous version. The problem seems to have been temporary, though. On Nov 3, FormZ showed all .SKP files greyed out and unselectable. This morning, Things are back to normal.... Tech
That's strange. If you have any idea what changed to cause this "temporary issue" please let us know...
3dfever
Also trying to import .SKP files. I have latest formZ pro build 8.5.6 build 9897. I can select the SKP files from import menus. When I click Import, nothing happens except a new drawing window with the correct file name but no model. Tried zooming, select all, then fit all. Also tried exporting 3DS format from SketchUp. formZ sees the 3DS file to import but again a window opens with correct drawing name, but no modeling. Any help appreciated! Tech
Hi 3dfever, Welcome to the forum! That's strange, we are not sure why that would happen. First, try getting a clean install from here: www.formz.com/update If that does not solve it, please zip and post a small SKP file, or post a link to a bigger one so we can test this here and see if there are any issues with that, and let us know what operating system you are using. Tech
Anton, SKP format is Import only. Hugo, If you are having issues with a specific file, please send it (or a link) so we can test with this here. 3dfever, Did updating solve it for you? Tech
Hi Hugo, Thanks for sending your file. We have verified that this file has issues importing into a variety of different programs, but we will see what we can do to handle this file better for the future. . If we resave the file from SketchUp as v6, and then import that, then this works properly. Does that help you work around the issue? Please let us know if you have any further questions or issues. Tech
Hi Hugo, After investigating this further, it appears that this issue only occurs when using the latest (unsupported) version of SKP. You should get a specific error message for this (which we do not so thanks for bringing this to our attention, we will get this corrected). As long as you save the file with v2015 or earlier version of the format, then you should be able to import the file properly. Does that help?
