Tech
Hi R2, Here are the currently available 3d file formats: And the 2d formats: Therefore, if you need FBX, you will need to export a different format such as OBJ, Import that into another program, and export FBX from there. We realize that FBX is a useful format, and we are investigating this for the future.
R2D2
I know timing is not what to ask for but looking at the answer/last sentence: are you actively working on this or is it more "somewhere in the future.."? And are there any experiences on how well the Obj workaround works (I remember evans cheat sheet for 3D formats..) So: FZ....convert...Unity/Unreal ? thx
etroxel
What's is your use for this? Is it to get to Unity? OBJ supports nurbs, so that may be of use... If you don't care if your objects get polygonized, you should probably go with DAE format. Since autodesk owns the FBX format, I can see why many developers are reluctant to use it. DAE is all over the place.
Tech
Hi R2, We don't have a definitive release time yet, but as Evan notes, OBJ (or DAE) can work well to Unity and Unreal, perhaps directly, or perhaps going through an intermediate program... R2D2
Thanks guys - I was looking at importing into Unreal, but after several crashes in Unreal ( and not importing my OBJ ) I quickly gave up. (I succeeded to get "some simple" test-geometry in, like Blocks and balls etc, but not my complete Arch. model.)
Tech
HI R2, That's strange, we have run tests before without any crashes. Did you try using the Triangulate All Faces option in the OBJ Export Options? And if you are still having trouble, did you send the file to Unreal's support?
BernieB
HI. I plan on learning to use Unreal engine 4 for my Digital Game Cultures class assignments. Are there any websites or blogs I can look up for Form Z users?
