jldaureil
Hello I've read some recent discussions about hardware for FZ as: http://forums.formz.com/index.php?/topic/3750-machine-spec-recommendations/?hl=benchmark&do=findComment&comment=13208 or http://forums.formz.com/index.php?/topic/3947-another-stupid-question-survey-for-you-guys/?hl=benchmark&do=findComment&comment=14302 I've also found the main requirements for form·Z 8 System: http://www.formz.com/products/formz/formzSystem.html May main interest is about CPU and this page doesn't give a lot about this... About Maxwell, Ben explain what I already know about Maxwell : Hi Dennis- I cannot speak for Renderzone, but Maxwell will use as many cores as you have, and performance scales almost linearly. Maxwell also uses hyperthreading effectively. So, the more cores and the faster they are, the better. So my question concern only RENDERZONE I just would like to know how Renderzone uses hyperthreading (with and without AO and FG) Thanks in advance Jean-Luc
Tech
Hi JL, In general, a faster processor -- and more cores will generally be faster for RenderZone, but unfortunately there is not an exact answer to your question. Hyperthreading is generally used effectively, and there was previously an issue with more than 8 cores on the Mac that was fixed with the most recent update for RenderZone (and this did not affect PC users). When specifying a new computer, one thing to keep in mind is that the very fastest processor will come with a very high premium price -- and finding the best processor for the money -- and then upgrading more frequently -- will often be the most cost effective way to get the fastest computer over its life cycle...
