Alan Cooper
This sounds elementary, you would think it would work, but snapping to centre of extents does not seem possible for most objects. Can snap to centre of a sphere very easily, but snapping to centre of a cube seems to necessitate the drawing of a line first between opposite corners?? I would have expected the centre of a cube and every single object, even the centre of a group or component to reference as a key point snap. An improvement for 8.5 perhaps? redrngr
You should be able to show in wire frame the Centroid of any Object and certainly with Solid Object then ensure you have Snap to Centroid selected and you should be able to do what you want with version 8 or 8.5. Alan Cooper
Dan, thank you, snap to centroid with point snap is the solution I missed, It would be even nicer if we could also show and snap to centroid in shaded work display, but at least we can switch to wireframe when we need it. Tech
Hi Alan, You can also Snap to Centroid in Shaded mode as well. Just make it visible via the Display Options, and position your cursor in the correct location and you will see the snap. Of course, using a Transparent Material will allow you to see the Centroid, and thus make snapping to it easier if you are using the Shaded Display...
