Sandblasted glass

Recommended Posts

Hi Z  Experts,

I'm doing some modelling for CNC that involves a graphic sandblasted on glass.

I need to put a sandblasted graphic on the under side of a sheet of glass and have everything look realistic when the model is rendered (with Renderworks).

I also need to be able to export this graphic to the glass fabricators so it can be sandblasted on the selected part.

Can anyone suggest a simple workflow / technique for this?

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking...you have some kind of existing image for the graphic, right? Do you need to know how to map it onto a particular surface? In terms of exporting the graphic to the glass fabricators...I don't know all the details but it seems you might need a higher-resolution (or vector) version of the art than what you'll be using to create the render.

More detail about the particular use case would be helpful here.

Yes, the rendering was created with Rendezone.

the "triangles" are my logo and the aim is to provide them as separate objects with different materials.

so that you have the glas sheet with its material and the logo with its own material.

if you want you can send me your file and i try to get what you want.

Hi vva,

In what I require the graphic is the "frosted" part and the natural glass is the rest.

What image format did you use for the graphic and how did you put it on the glass?

Is that your email address in the previous window?

yes, you can use my email to send the file of the graphic to me.

In my example the graphic was rebuilt with fZ as surfaces and with the "Place On" tool "mapped" to the sheet of glas (as a surface and later extrude it to the thickness you want)

you can no use images because you need faces in fZ to give them a material.

please send the file of the image to me, and I will help to get what you want.
