reynold Posted December 19, 2015 Share Posted December 19, 2015 Working through this webinar: http://www.formz.com/webinars/webinars_html/generative_design.html At about 14:30 there is a section on the Voronoi tools that does not seem to work for me. Here's what I am doing: 1. Create the basic 2D shape 2. Spread some points on it using P-scatter 3. Create the Voronoi pattern using the Voronoi tools (settings as per the webinar) 2. Use the Thicken tool to create the 3D solid, but the Voronoi patter is lost Settings: 4. By changing the thicken settings to "out" instead of center I get But the Voronoi pattern remains only on the surface. If I follow the webinar from step 4 forward, everything works (offset outline, punch all the holes), but on the resulting geometry the Subd tool does not work. It simply won't operate on the geometry. Object doctor does not detect any issues. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong? Thanks. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Tech Posted December 21, 2015 Share Posted December 21, 2015 Hi reynold, We were able to reproduce the problem with your file and discovered an issue with the Thicken tool where co-planar edges can be incorrectly removed under certain conditions. Thanks for your report, we will get this fixed. In the meantime, just convert your voronoi diagram to a facetted object with the Convert tool and the Thicken tool will work as expected. Gyro Posted May 30, 2016 Share Posted May 30, 2016 Hi there, I'm attempting to create the 2 Diatron as attached objects by watching the generative design tutorial but I can't seem to apply the steps to a sphere, is it due to it being a closed surface. These 2 objects are going to be 3D printed for movie props. Any advice on the creation in would really help.
