Amazing... Renderzone Transparent Layer

Have not tried to render as .psd instead of .tiff for many years. Just did & was pleased to discover that using an alpha channel background creates a transparent layered .psd file.

Although the image is correctly proportioned it will always revert to a 72 dpi resolution & unlike a tiff rendering a psd rendering needs to have resolution entered (even if image sizing has been set correctly in fmz)

Hi Dennis,

 

Yes, .PSD files are exported via Apple's Quicktime libraries, and they have added this ability to automatically generate a separate layer for an alpha channel.  While they don't allow specifying the size and resolution via these libraries, it does write the image size correctly in terms of pixels, and the resolution settings can easily be changed via Photoshop's Image Options...
