johnvamo
Hello, I am trying to offset a segment of a sliced curved object. When I check the insert option during the offset operation nothing happens. I send the file attached to this message...I am using the latest formz version. Thanks for the help. DennisA
Not sure why? But if you convert object to faceted (in manage tools)... it will work.

Tech
Hi John, If you Offset with Insert turned off, and then Imprint as a separate step, does that allow you to get what you want? Thanks for your report, we will get this corrected.
DennisA
What tool are you using to inset as a separate step?
Tech
Hi Dennis, You can use the Imprint tool from the Reshape tool row. Or you could draw directly on the surface with a 2d vector line and Insert selected. Or many other ways too...
DennisA
Imprint tool did not insert the offset segment for me? It did grey the segment but did not insert? Did it work for you? Yes I know there are many other ways to do this?
johnvamo
Hello DennisA and Tech, Dannis solution converting the object to faccetted worked but I think i should not be the proper way to work the model for further modelling. Tech's solution with the imprint tool doesn't work. When you execute the imprint tool the segment dissapears. I would be nice if the offset of a curved face goes along the curve itself....I think is not possible right now. Thanks for the takinf into account the corretion. offset.fmz.zip
DennisA
Although insert segment is not working as expected as tech said there are may ways to accomplish what you want. You can trim/split & stitch with line, slice, or boolean to get what you want.
Tech
Hi Gentlemen, We found a computer on which we can reproduce the imprint issue, thanks for bringing this to our attention, we will get this corrected. Yes, John, you should not need to convert to Facetted, and Trimming or Slicing with the line instead would be a better workaround for now.
