ingoerik
Has anyone tried to use FormZ's SVG export and use it in Affinity Designer ? Usually i only do 3D renderings but now some clients ask me to do some simple floor plans for real estate agents too.
ingoerik
It works, but i cant recommend it. You get no closed objects, just lines. Better wait till they have a dwg importer. ThatMNTishman
skybound13
The Affinity forum has 12 pages of posts going all the way back to 2015 AD with people saying they’d like a DWG/DWF import feature. I’ve never used the application to know the entire feature set, but searching their forum it looks like it doesn’t have a dimensioning tool, no use laying out orthographic projections without being able to dimension the drawings. skybound13
They actually added a DWG/DXF import in the Version 2 release. I believe it is only an import function, they didn’t add DWG export.
Hugo
Yep, only import. i use Affinity Publisher and FormZ already since Publisher came out. Very very happy with this workflow.
Hugo
…and Designer and Photo too.
skybound13
I had wondered if Publisher could be used to set up a title block on a large sheet then import and place images which could then be notated in Publisher.
Hugo
My workflow is based on Publisher in combination with FormZ 3D modeller. It’s by far better working than the draft/layout option. My drawings look like high resolution print work. Cannot be done with draft/layout.
Hugo
And title block and all smart option Publisher has to offer, works perfectly!
