Information Management as a Python script?

In the past the 'Information Management' option could do calculations in a selected field. In v10 that option is gone. Therefore, I was thinking, could do Python script the same.

What I need for my work:

Calculate all objects on the selected layers in the 3D model, calculate the volume and the third parameter I want to know is the Weight. In my case it should display after calculation the following fields: Layer-Volume-Weight. The weight field is a calculation. Volume (liter) * 2,35 = weight (KG) 

The weight calculation is not anymore available in v10. 

Anyone?
