Map a single texture over multiple objects

Recommended Posts

Im trying to create a representation of the Eden Project in a pretty basic form.

So I did the "mesh google earth image onto object" instructions. So mapping it onto a correctly sized rectangle isn't a problem

The problem comes when I want to bulge out the parts where it bulges in reality. I made a few spheres where they should go, then I made a union of the spheres and the bottom rectangle. I thought since it is one solid now after being united, it would mesh a single image over the whole object. It doesn't.

How can I get it to mesh a single image over multiple objects?

Hi Hirscr,

Spheres automatically get Spherical Mapping by default, but if you get the Map Texture tool, set this to Flat, and then click on your object, you can then use the Edit Texture tool to get what you want...

Does that help?

I had made a union of the geometry before I meshed the image on there. Does meshing the image work if the geometries are not union? I could then move the spheres around to match as needed.

Try this:  Pick the Spheres, click the Attributes Tab of the Pick Options, and uncheck the Render As Shaded Surface.  Then you can move them around as you like, and once you Union, then you can Flat Map everything as described above.

Does that get you what you want?
