SKP Import

Recommended Posts

Hi I just got latest updated version installed - I don't see SKP import?

I understood that this was going to be improved in the latest version -but now I don't see the option at all? has it moved?

We were never able to import SKP objects.

We tried different FZ versions (8, 9, Free and Pro) on different computers (Windows10).

We checked the extension manager; the sketchup translator plugin is on.

When we try import a .skp file, the screen remains blank and nothing happens.

Any idea?

I just checked and I don't have any problem to import an SKP file of a little apartment building with 8 floors and 12 units… but, I work on MacOS 10.13.6.

HI here is screen shot - as you can see 8.6 imported SKP files whilst Version 9 doesn't have this option.

From the message from ZTEK it seems Mac version allows this. That is strange - perhaps Z support can give some guidance.

Actually I see on the main page of Z it says this is possible so must be something I'm missing here.

We have checked the extensions manager and the SKP file translator is on...

We had allways the same problem with the previous versions of FMZ; is it a Windows 10 configuration issue (ie: virus detection, firewall...)?

This is file downloaded from 3D Warehouse, in 2019 .skp format we are not able to open, but all our .skp files since 2016 dont work. They worked on FZ 6 and 7, I beleive.

We have no problem with .3ds, .dwg or .obj files

Just to confirm, again I had no problem in MacOS with FZ 9.03, it took less than a second.

update:

I rebooted computer - and now the sketchup file translator is on in the manager and the pull down menu shown before now properly shows SKP as option.
