Rudy Daverveld
Anybody some suggestions to create the irregular deformation on an object like this? Would be nice to see displacement materials in version 9! My idea was to create a straight version of this and then use the mesh deformation, but I can't find this option anymore in 8.7.... But I think someone here knows how to to do this. Kind regards Rudy Daverveld Visual
Rudy Daverveld
Zweb maybe? still looking for some tips!
Tech
Rudy, This deformation seems rather systematic so you could just start out with a solid object and then use the Boolean Union or Boolean Difference tool to create the ridges on the object. Then round the edges, if necessary. Or you could just use a texture map to create the details: http://www.formz.com/support/tips/tip57.html
Rudy Daverveld
Ok yes for this form maybe, but now I have to create a flower pot like this in a similar fashion, A texture is not enough because the edges stay straight. There is no such thing as a point or mesh distortion anymore?
Bartjuan
I think you are looking for the Disturb tools, now in the Animation workspace... I'm not much of an animator but I have used Disturb in the past to get the irregular geometry Bart
Tech
Hi Rudy, As Bart states, if you're looking for the Disturb tools, they are in the Animation workspace. If these tools do not help you achieve your desired result, please post another photo of what you are trying to do.
Justin Montoya
This is another example why we don't need these confusing and cumbersome Workspaces. All the tools should be accessible from within one easy to navigate workspace. Call it Ultimate Workspace if you must, but it should be available by default for FormZ. FZnoob
You could do it as a sub-d mesh, then manipulate the control points to create whatever irregular shapes you desire.
