Modeling help/suggestions Please

In 2003 I designed this sculpture in formZ (can't remember the version, probably3). I have been unable to find my original files. I wold like to try and recreate the spirals that form the base. I am having some difficulty with this. It seemed so easy back then. Any suggestions on how to create this complex helix?

Thanks for your help. post-21-0-72376700-1493910648_thumb.jpg

These look like Helix tool wires which were swept with a segment.... However building things in the real world introduce other factors which the Sweep tool does not immediately adapt. That is to say there are many possible outcomes, both in formZ and also in the real building world, regarding absolute matching and mathematical definitions.

Hi Rafe,

We replied your inquiry via email yesterday.  We suggest that you look at the "Apple to Orange" tutorial in the support section of our website.  In this tutorial we outline two different ways to create a helix of various widths from center point using the Contours Section tool or simply using the Bulge tool on the generated helix.

This may not have ALL the answers, but hopefully it'll help you get started  :)
