Import DWG linework and create solid

I am importing a plat map from the engineer and I want to turn the linework into a solid or a surface can be reshaped. Do I have to trace over every line to make that happen or is there a tool that does that?

Closed shapes will extrude to solids, so if you get the Join tool from the Line Editing tool row, select all, and click in the screen, then you should be well on your way to using these lines directly with only minimal additional cleanup.

I have had a lot of experience with importing platt maps.  The process can be as simple as joining the lines which always seem to be broken in places.  However, it is important to check the SHOW DIRECTION box in your display palette.  All the lines need to be pointed in the same direction before you can do anything with them.

Thank you for the response. That doesn't seem to be working. When I am getting the "o" with a line through it.

I had some luck joining individual segments one at a time or by shift-picking them so I had more control over what becomes a surface without getting any bad geometry.

With the Pick tool active, you can hold down the Shift key and select each segment that you want to join together, then use the Join tool to make them a single curve/surface.
