Layout Rendered or Shaded Views

Is it possible to use rendered or shaded views in a viewport within Layout? Are there plans to continue to develop Layout? Would you please add the ability to display wireframe views within a viewport. Sometimes it's very handy to have an "xray" view thru solids and surfaces.

Currently you can use the formZ Export Image command to export a Shaded view as an image file -- and load that into Layout if you like.  Using the Shaded views directly is not an option right now, but we will see if this can be added for the future.  As far as generating an "xray" view where "back edges" are shown, does choosing the Show Hidden Edges option from the Layout Frame Parameters: Hidden Line Options do what you want?

Yes, that helps. Never tried "Hidden Edges" option. It would be very handy to display shaded views directly within a viewport.

I really expected this to be part of Layout after watching videos.

My design team wants to see full color (shaded) section views TO SCALE .

this is cumbersome to do.

Currently I make  Hidden line view >export

Make a shaded view or rendering > export

Import both into Illustrator scale the hidden Line view to a standard scale,

them fit the shaded view under the hidden line - scale/move/scale/move till it lines up

then delete the hidden line.

+1    I spend a lot of time rebuilding such images between Photoshop and Illustrator.   

 

Result should be vector,  and outlines should be independent of the Fills (for altering transparency later)
