Selecting an object within a group

Sorry, this probably a completely stupid question but I have trouble selecting a single object within a group: when I try to select an object (with the pick tool at object level, not automatic) or try to pick an object in the Object Palette the whole group gets automatically selected.

 

How do I select just a single object? Is there a setting for this?

Hi Pobo,

 

If you want to pick objects in groups, either right click on the group and choose Edit Group -- or choose Unlock Groups from the Edit Menu.

 

Do those options allow you to get what you want?

I can't make the contextual right mouse click work. When clicking on an object in the scene, this triggers the hand tool for me, even though in Key Shortcuts it is set to middle button (see screenshot). When clicking on an object in the Object Palette I don't get an Edit Group option.

 

The Unlock Groups menu function works though.

The Context Menu appears when you right click on the Objects in the Project Window (not the Palette).

 

If that is not working, try going to the Edit Menu: Key Shortcuts -- Saving your Shortcuts to a file, then click Load Defaults.  Does that fix the context menu for you?
