Palette drop down menu improvements

Drop Down Menus: I would love to see a drop down menu for the following palettes:  Layers, Materials (not parameters just selecting materials), Line weight, Line type…also perhaps views and scenes.  They would be especially useful when working on a laptop and would offer a much faster and improved workflow.  Opening and re-closing the palettes gets tiring and is inefficient.  I know it is only a few clicks, but it adds up and a drop down to set those attributes would be great.

Yes, - drop down and fly across for a horizontal option, with an auto collapse but with a lock to keep open if desired. And please could the menu when collapsed be a narrow icon so as not to take up much space when not in use and so they can be placed next to each other closely, ideally in a dock which can be user configured to be either vertically or horizontally configured, and intelligently flies out in appropriate direction according to where it is located, or maybe the icon button does not even need to be attached to the fly out palette, so the dormant icons can live in user preferred locations and the palette area where the information appears can be in another user preferred location which can be moved regularly according to the drawing view to prevent obstruction of the model being used. If there were an option for the icons to be user configurable, even better but not essential.

The key point here is for dormant palettes to reduce to just an icon in custom icon docks which adjust to width [or height if in a vertical dock] according to how many icons they contain, until icon is clicked on which causes palette to appear which remembers its previous open size and position.
