thecadman 14 Posted January 29, 2015 Have been trying to get Volumetrics to work without any success. I attach a file with both an emitter and a cone light but no bananas! I have a volumetric object totally encompassing both light and camera and have tried bumping it up to 100 which seems to be the highest value possible and nothing in either Fire or Maxwell render... What am I doing wrong? Cheers! volumetrics.fmz.zip 3 Minaabilk, Ekbergzem and Vilmaundumb reacted to this
pylon 288 Posted January 29, 2015 Hi, The main problem is that you have assigned an emitter material to the Volumetric object. This is not supported. (If you attempt to Render this in Maxwell, you will get an error to that effect.) Secondly, you have set the volumetric density to 100; this is going to produce a result that is pretty much solid, and you won't be able to see through it. Try 0.1. volumetrics_03.fmz.zip
thecadman 14 Posted January 29, 2015 Funny but I opened your file and when I render it I don't get any volumetric at all! I checked my version of Maxwell which is 3.1 and your plugin which is 3.1.0.4 The only reason I tried 100 was that I wasn’t seeing any effect! Any idea why I am not getting the effect? thanks! pylon 288 Posted January 29, 2015 Are you rendering in Fire, or doing a finish render in Maxwell?
thecadman 14 Posted January 29, 2015 Doesn’t matter which - no bananas!
pylon 288 Posted January 29, 2015 To help us investigate your problem, please send us your plugin Log after rendering. Instructions: 1. Attempt to render your project with Maxwell again (Select Display> Maxwell Render) 2. Open the plugin Log (Select Extensions> Maxwell Render> Log). 3. Click Save Log and save to your Desktop or other convenient location. 4. Post the Log here.
thecadman 14 Posted January 29, 2015 I will email it to you but saw on it that I have Volumetrics and other extensions missing. Have emailed to Ben
pylon 288 Posted January 29, 2015 Yes, that is the issue. 1. Delete any other versions of Maxwell from your system completely. (e.g., betas, or Maxwell 3.0) 2. From the finder, navigate to Applications/Maxwell 3 and launch Maxwell.app, Studio.app, AND the MXED.app. (Make sure you have OSX security set up such that you can launch these.) Then quit each. 3. Restart formZ and try again. Does this help?

ktejlgaard 10 Posted January 15, 2016 Sorry but how do you produce the volumetric "box"?
pylon 288 Posted January 15, 2016 Hi, Use the Volumetric Tool. It is located in the Extensions tool palette.
