jeffgrune
Animation Newbies: Watch this 30 minute video from form•Z before trying to animate anything. It will save you hours of frustrating trial-and-error and show you things you thought weren't possible. I wish I had watched it a week ago. jeffgrune
I just tried one of the things in the video - using the animation parameters from one object on another. He deleted the first object and the animation tracks remained, so that the tracks can be applied to the other object. This didn't work when I tried it. Deleting the object also deleted all of its tracks.
Tech
Hi Jeff, Can you let us know the time in the video you are referencing?
jeffgrune
It starts around 10:45. It works for Matt, but it didn't work for me.
Tech
Hi Jeff, Ok, yes, that works for the Animated Deformations. Are you trying to use the Deformations -- or something else?
jeffgrune
Not deformations. I'm just moving a collection of objects and was hoping that setting up a simple proxy object to work out the transformation on the timeline, then apply the tracks to an animation group. Does this only work for deformations?
Tech
The Deformations are essentially a special kind of Animation Group. If you create an Animation Group and animate that, you can then insert or remove objects from the group if you like.
