¢hris £und reacted to bdurbrow in 64 Bit Plugins?
I'm trying to get a working build environment (under OS X 10.11.3; with Xcode 7.2.1; and the formZ 7.0 SDK); and when attempting to build a plugin with a 64-bit target I get a "Mac68k alignment pragma is not supported on this target" error.

So... are x86-64 plugins supported? Or should I be building as an i386 target?

And if so, how about SDK 8? Will that support x86-64 targets? (and is there any ETA on that?)

I would love to have an integrated Calculator.     Scientific Calculator for that matter.

One where clicking on a myriad of fields would automatically populate it and the results could also automatically populate.
Such as to be able to pull data from any of the measurement display fields.
Should have access to the SDK so that we can add our own scripts and it be usable.

Floating palate and one with the measurement tool options if people are crowded for space.

    Cheers!

I suppose it should work in what ever notation you have is set in the Project settings.

Agreed, and not only that, but give it the ability to work in feet + inches like a contractor's calculator for us architects using fZ.

Something Like Modo where it highlights those elements and you can see a dithered version of it if it is hidden by foreground Geometry.
Though, Even in it,  you have to be in a WireFrame Mode to Pick Through Foreground Geometry (except when Symmetry is on, then background geometry that is symmetrical to the Fore Geometry will be picked as the fore is)

    Alan,

Mostly good.  Some real profound changes to the positive.   However, there are a number of nuances that trip things up.

It would be great if an undo in the subdivision buffer would only step back the last operation rather than taking us back to the original object.

    Also:
Could the slider start with 0 in the center so we can move in the negative direction. This would help smooth corner points where edges meet.

    Thanks for reading.

I guess I have been using the wrong tool to create my plain geometry for the last year.   I always used the rectangle or line tool with either 3D extrusion or 3D wall selected and then input the height.  Just like I did in every other version of Form.z until V.7.  I never use the cube tool and never really saw the reason for it on the palette.  Now I do.  Unfortunately old habits die hard. It would be great to have that functionality back again.

When you pick a material in the Materials palette, Right Click on it and chose Duplicate, a copy of the material is created, but the original material remains selected. Wouldn't it make more sense that the duplicate is selected? Every time I do this I get caught by it. I duplicate the material then start editing the Image Map or properties and then realize that the materials in the scene are changing, when what I really want to do is change the new materials and apply it to some different objects.

Maybe I just work backwards from everyone else but it seems to me that duplicating a material is done because you want essentially the same material but want to make some changes and then use it, not make a copy that will remain intact while you change the original. When you Save As a model, you find yourself working in the new model, not working on the old one.

In that sense I guess Duplicate behaves like Save a Copy, but it just feels counterintuitive to me. Curious whether I'm the only one who feels that?

+1 to having an option to show controls on objects when selected but also keeping the option to turn it on and off per object as it is now.

and maybe for select by criteria palette, the 'set' column could be on a fly-out as sets are not always used.

+1 or anything that has controls.  They don't need to show all the time, but when selected, would be a great option.

Ok, makes sense -- we will see if we can find a way to do this...

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for the suggestion, we will consider this...

I'm not sure we need a full node based materials editor but I would love to be able to stack materials over a surface.  Yes we have decals but, I would like to be able to create a single material with multiple diffuse maps and a way to control the blending (via alpha channel, "heat map."etc).
this would be great for grunge maps, and organic materials.
UV Unwrap for textures normal maps (esp for sub-D modelling)

On the mac, I use ScreenFlow.  on it's own, it costs $99  but I got it in a bundle, where the whole bundle was $40. needless to say, I got the bundle just so I could have this app.'
It works really well.  It not only captures the video, but User interaction ( keystrokes, mouse clicks (locations), Microphone .)
and all of this can be displayed in the final video (by choice.)  Minor Video and audio editing capabilities are built in.

Great for pointing out software bugs and doing tutorials.

Dedicated midpoint snap would work best for me.   Another option, that would work great is a way to change the interval by keyboard

Say, if one of the tools that would use snapping, and the interval snap is chosen then maybe a shortcut like opt-up arrow  and opt-down arrow.

    I just need something quick

Actually, now that I think about it,   a dedicated midpoint   and  a shortcut shiftable interval   would be perfect!!!!!

    Cheers!

Symmetry would be especially helpful working with subdivision surfaces. It would also be helpful if the mirror axis was parametric so it could be adjusted on the fly throughout the process, and the symmetric object could have adjustable levels of transparency. It would also be nice if the mirrored component could be made unique at some point in the process and modified independently.
