it has been there for ages. lots of requests to change it have been posted as well. will we see a better solution in FZ 9?

if at least in the meantime we would get the information what the objects name was and on which layer it was deleted...

one solution to this would be if FZ would create a special 'quarantine' read only layer where it moves these objects, so we can examine what objects went wrong. this layer can then be purged when not useful anymore.

even better, fix the reason why this happens at all. if an object is corrupted by some operation, it should be reported immediately to the user whth an option to undo the last operation.

    So,

in my impatience, I am studying Swift.

I see that there are workarounds for getting C/C++ Libraries to work with it.
Just wondering if this would be too much of a stretch with the fZ SDK?
I presume that the current build is C/C++?  or have you differentiated and gone objective-C and C#/.Net?

Also, curious to know if there is any consideration of future development in swift?
As there has been some work for it on windows,
    http://swiftforwindows.codeplex.com

and there is a dist for linux.
    https://swift.org/download/#snapshots

I of course realize that this would be substantial upfront work, but seems that it would also lessen the long term investment.  Would certainly reduce the load on small dev's who would like to add full extensions to fZ

    Tail Chasing; never ending.

    Thanks!

the Compiler says it is an invalid cast.    But doesn't everything cast to a boolean any way??

I played a little bit with O-o-Ops but get the same result.

I end up having to be more explicit
    if ((topoType == FZ_OBJT_TOPO_OWRE || topoType == FZ_OBJT_TOPO_CWRE ||topoType == FZ_OBJT_TOPO_SURF ) && LengthAbs_v_Perc== 0)

The Multi Image Map Importer script that I wrote (MIMI) will run under 8.5.3 if you follow these steps.
FIrst, download it here.  Then follow along with the images, and instructions below:

    MIMI.zip

Text instructions to go with the images:
1,  Goto the extensions Menu and select "Run Utility"
2, Navigate to the scripts folder, then into the MIMI folder to pick MIMI.fsb
3, A new open dialog will become available (with no indication that it is new)
navigate to your images folder, note that they will be dimmed (click on "Show all files
4, Files may still be dimmed, but you will now be able to select all the files you want
Be careful to choose image files that fZ understands (Don't recall how much error checking I did)
5, Note that a bunch of new blank materials have been added... No big deal
6, Change from "Shaded" to "Render Zone"
    7, change all of them...

¢hris £und got a reaction from ritawex in 8.5.x kill FSL?
Got tired of waiting for the new SDK/API set for 8.x+

thought to at least workout some algorithms, and get my head around the process again, since it has been 8 or 9 years.

Albeit, it would be preferable just jumping into Python (as that has uses elsewhere)  rather than re-learn FSL.

HOWEVER, can't get any of the scripts (any Scripts, not just mine) to load into 8.5.3

Thought it was stated here that the 7.x  SDK would still work.   ???

Funny thing though,  loaded the 7.0 SDK,  and the script editor still says it is 6.7.x   All documents note that they are 6.x or older.

Is the link bad, or does 8.x?.x?  kill FSL?

    Thanks!

    Justin,

I do intend on updating the MIMI script.  not quite as flashy as a whole folder, but I suppose if there is a way of determining that the file is an image or not, it could be added to it.

Other things I would like to do to it,  is import images with a base material.

How do you think about a formula field for the Measure Quantities tool? When doing conceptual mass models I like to compare their floor area on-the-go by using a very simple formula: A = V / storey height. It would make conceptualising much more fluently if I could just enter a formula in the Measure Quantities tool that uses the information it derives from the clicked object (see figure below).

I would like to see some sort of template manager built into formZ.

Well aware that I can work around such things manually, however, it would be much more convenient to have fZ know not to save changes to a manual template file back to that file unless opened up manually such as the current 1 template.

    Cheers!

¢hris £und got a reaction from Robertquade in drop beginning and end of NURBS curves
    Tech,

I think I mentioned something like this ages ago, however, would like to do so again.

I would like the options to drop the beginning and ends of what is drawn as NURBS curses (meshes too)
where the beginning and ends would be at where the second point and second to last point have the most effect.
as well as, consider those points as snapping for point snap.

reason for this is the beginning and end points are weighted to 100% and thusly changes the flow of the curve.
where, if planning ahead, one can add two extra points in the controls that don't display in the final curve.

see image for hopeful clarity.  (top example is what I would like, where the bottom is current)

    thanks!

It does appear that Apple has had a change of heart of late.   Took them a while to realize that developers for their mobile devices also like pro machines.   Still will have to wait until presumably fall for an iMac Pro and next year for a real pro tower.
