    i also noticed now that wen logging in with my credentials for a short time, the site is marked as 'not secure'... this makes my alarm bells ring... can you explain this behavior? i will not login anymore as a user until i'll be sure that my passwords are not intercepted by some obscure site.

    i can confirm as well the stability. a few strange things still happen with components, and when deleting objects related to opengl, but very few crashes until now!

    From Foem Z to Unreal engine

    i guess FZ with a direct export option to unreal engine would attract many new customers. i'm also very interested into this connection, but currently using other 3d packages on mac for this purpose seem to be more promising. maybe FZ can add this in the upcoming V9?
  5. thanks setz, but this will only work (VRML2 format only) with C4D but not with Lightwave, which does support this format only in modeler for exporting object data.
  6. With the new version of Lightwave 3D, a new format of LWO is used which is not loaded by current FZ versions. LW2018 can save in the LWO2 format as an option and natively read LWO2, but it makes file handling more complex. I wonder if it would be possible to implement import and export for this format?     open / add project broken in last build?

    thanks for testing! i found out in the meantime: it was related to a specific project file. i sent this file to tech support - hopefully they can fix this issue.
  8. i cannot add any data to an empty project here. all checkboxes are checked and there is a long import process. finally FZ asks to replace some materials but then only materials are loaded, no layers, no objects, no components are in the project. anyone can reproduce this? FZ pro latest build mac os here.
  9. i don't even remember how many times for years this has been reported , also by me. wonder if it ever will be fixed. sigh. we had a repository of feature requests for past version with all these notes. all gone after setting up the new forums. maybe autodessys could set up a sticky feature request thread again here, organized by main topics, like UI, tool requests, import / export of data etc... ?

    select by criteria - suggestions, again

    sorry, but i'm really disappointed as nothing seems to happen here. this is an important tool to keep up with complex projects. with latest update the materials box containing tiny icons even behaves more erratically than before, making a selection impossible. at least please list materials by name, then we can pick something useful here...

    if in tool manager mode, i cannot edit any of the docked palettes in the top row. just deleting an entire palette is possible.

    this is misleading, as "visible entities only" should then be corrected into "visible entities only, except components" or am i getting this one wrong? the result is not what i expect to be. after all this function has the purpose to clean up a scene while saving if i understand correctly. kind regards

    "without effect" in this context was meaning that whatever i switch on or of in the layers palette has no effect on visibility. i cannot reproduce this for now but it clearly happened after exporting my working scene as LWO. if i can reproduce i will report here. for now working with 8.5.7 again because less buggy.

    ok please check the attached scene. try to edit in-scene the facade component in this way: when in context menu edit mode, move points of the geometry and duplicate one of the polygons. you should notice a slowdown in operations. then close the editing mode via context men. here FZ will go into endless looping (colour wheel).     issue number four: "save as a copy" with the option 'visible entities only' and 'delete unreferenced components' will not delete components and layers which are invisible but contain any components. only way is to manually select and delete before saving.

    third issue - an d a longstanding one is that i get duplicates of surface materials used in components all the time when reloading a scene. apparently materials inside components are not getting correctly updated when material names are changed, deleted in a scene. i have vray installed as well, maybe it is related to this?

    another issue is that during component editing (in scene - wafter using context menu) now is slowed down. i am doing this in wireframe mode,moving points even of a very simple component is slow as molasses. after finishing the edit, the program is going into an endless loop. i will try to setup a scene where i can reproduce this at 100%.

    thank you for the update! i am however having a new issues now: after exporting my scene with the LWO exporter, any changes in the layer palette are without effect, the scene cannot be controlled anymore. i am on macos 10.12.6.

    there is a immediate crash when dragging a right to left mouse selection frame over components here. this also has been reported for the previous version. can anyone confirm? i am on macOS 10.12.6, latest nvidia drivers.

    that would be definitely nice! ...once DWG import module is improved. for such a feature it would need to be able to get more effective filters and tools - like for example, 'set all Z coordinates to 0 while importing" and especially remember import settings. why don't we still have any import presets? when i am working with different clients, the offsets in the plan origins and scales are drastically different between each studio, depending on the software architecture they are using. one old feature request is a way to handle these differences by presets. that would be a first step into a more effective workflow. recap for DWG importer feature requests: * make importer handle referenced files * import presets * cleanup tools: set all X / Y / Z coordinates to 0 * cleanup tools: import only visible layers * cleanup tools: import materials/colors as layers these would be handy also for other file types, of course.
  23. after normally editing some geometzy in my scene, i've suddenly lost every snapping. i didn't change any parameters in the settings to do so. all layers are snappable, precision is not changed, all snaps can be individually set on or o, no change. i've also tried to create an empty scene and add the scene to it, same issue. i've reverted to an older build of FZ, same issue. i have no idea how i can continue to work. anyone having an idea how to fix this? EDIT: if i create an empty scene and model from scratch, snapping is available as usual. i also noticed a 'bumpy' zoom issue with the 'corrupted' scene. i will check if there is a small hidden object totally out of the usual drawing area, maybe. EDIT2: no 'out of boundaries'geometry. at least when i make all layers visible and set zoom all, i cannot see any irregularity.

    suddenly lost all snapping - anyone?

    hi setz, thank youvery much for the good tips. in the end i removed all referenced objects from the file (which previously didn't cause any issues) and now it's all snapping again. i'm still puzzled because this kind of issue never happened before. hopefully it will stay a single case. i agree with you that FZ in other areas is very straightforward compared to other modellers. the strongest argument for FZ is still the quality of output geometry. the two main issues i see - which are not getting better but worse, at least over long term - are stability and import modules. i can live with the UI limitations and the sometimes extremely slow speed, but the crashing irate s a no go for a professional app in this category imo. cheers markus
