    Tips about bottle designing

Guys, your answers are welcome (as a beginner, thank you), but you misread me: I meant already existing filets and caps—the ones that are standardized(?), so that you can take a cap from a water bottle and it will fit perfectly on another water bottle with a different shape. Any experience with that? Is asking the factory for the "standardized" 3D file the way to go?

    Tips about bottle designing

BTW, how do you guys go about designing the cap and the screw/filet of a bottle or container? Do you ask the 3D model for that part from the factory, then you just model the rest—the bottle itself?
  3. +1. I don't know how this worked exactly (what small or big button you had to click to access it) because I don't have FZ6, but if reintroduced, make it easier/faster/more visible to access, maybe with a keyboard modifier tied to the option. And the same would go for a "Scale each" feature.

    octane render plugin for FZ?

    Hm… Redshift is Windows-only…
  5. "The Dynamic option – when it is applied individually (one face selected), it works without "crossing" lines, but if two or more faces are offset at the same time, the offset works like it should (no "crossing") only on the last selected face". Not fixed in Beta 4. Maybe there's another Beta planned before launching 8.5?

    Invert Selection

    Absolutely needed.
  7. … and I forgot to ask for "Rotate each". Please.
  8. Thanks for answering. OK, so I deleted some bad offsets and tried the Dynamic option – when it is applied individually (one face selected), it works without "crossing" lines, but if two or more faces are offset at the same time, the offset works like it should (no "crossing") only on the last selected face. An easy thing to fix in the code, I'm sure. Also, since we're talking about individual vs. multiple faces, can we have a "Scale each line/face/item" tool or option, so we can scale multiple "unconnected" faces, each around its center? (See the attached image). Doing this one by one with three dozen (extruded) voronoi faces is very time consuming. And I can imagine a "Scale each" tool/option would come handy for many other situations.
  9. I've been trying the Voronoi shell tutorial with the 8.5 beta, and on running the Offset Outline tool on the voronoi faces, some faces end up with "crossed" lines, like you see in the attached image. Could you guys improve the code for this tool so that the close points converge into one instead of crossing by each other when the offset is done inwards, and we don't end up with bad geometry? Or maybe I'm missing something – I'm a beginner.
  10. I know the scripting SDK is not launched yet, so this is possibly a stupid question, but… Should I learn Python 3 or Python 2 to be able in the future to write scripts for Form•Z? Black Friday is next week, and I'm considering buying some Python book at half the price from O'Reilly.
