I don't understand this comparison. Are you suggesting that FormZ can compete with what Revit can do, thus making Revit seem super expensive? I've been teaching myself FZ for a bit but am I missing it's true BIM capabilities in regards to what Revit can do? Yes, Revit is a bit pricey but it seems to offer more than just architectural modeling, rendering and sheet layouts. I mean it's an Apple to Orange comparison imo. It's a great comparison to SketchUp, which I like and use a lot. To me Form Z Jr is a great comparison to SketchUp Pro. It's still $495 (what SU used to be) and it includes things that SU Pro does NOT included; subdivision tools, nurbs, included architectural tools, AO display, etc. All of these have to be added into SU and most cost extra. That SU has moved to a subscription model is NOT a surprise to anyone that has worked with Trimble before! Edit: " (3D) Max $1545 per year ...., Revit $2310 per year " No one pays separately for these. The AEC Collection is $2,965/year that has both of these as well as ALL of the other CAD/Civil products included. Not sure if this was your point. If not then I apologize.

OK weird request but I was messing around with my old 1st gen Mac Power tower and I wanted to get some older but still useful software on it. I've installed FZ Free 8.6.5 but I get an OpenGL error after this. The program opens but there is nothing in the drawing area. Any ideas? TIA

Hello all, when I start Form Z Free I am given a prompt that there is a new update (9.0.4.2). When I go to the link the download is not the new version but an older version (9.0.3 #A123). Can this be verified on your end? Thanks

Hello all, LONG TIME sketchup user looking to finally learn Form Z. Using Free at the moment. Any way 1st question, is there in Form Z a command like SU's Tape Measure tool that can create reference lines? I can't seem to find one or a way to simulate this command. Thanks in advance. F7

Thanks all, I'll look into those and see what I find. What I am doing is drawing a little shed model to learn the Form Z way to work. In SU I could do a small shed in a matter of minutes. Trying to see the error of my ways and not retain bad Form Z habits as it were. I've watched many of the official Form Z videos so far and they have helped.

Form Z already has a free Student Edition. It's ALSO the full edition. Trimble does not offer a full free student edition of SketchUP, theirs is $55/yr.

Thanks Tech, seems to be working now.
