Tech got a reaction from Ekbergzem in formZ 7 "Hot Fix" for OS X 10.10 Yosemite
formZ v8.0 fully supports OS X 10.10 “Yosemite” but if you are still using form•Z 7, we are releasing a “hot fix” which should generally make this compatible with OS X 10.10.  Please follow these steps (or upgrade to the current version):

    • Be sure that you have form•Z 7.3.4. This fix will only work for form•Z 7.3.4. If you don't have it, you can download it here:  www.formz.com/update
    • Download libFZRT.dylib.zip. If necessary extract the zip file. You should now have a single file named “libFZRT.dylib”.
    • Locate your formZ 7.3.4 Application folder and locate the file “libFZRT.dylib”.
    • Replace the file in your installation with the one that you downloaded.
    • Launch form•Z 7.3.4!

    Hi Chris,

Yes, there was an issue with certain display resolution settings that may not have been honored with formZ v6 that are now honored with the current versions.  To change the resolution, select whatever you want (or select all), go to the Attributes Tab of the Pick Tool Options, change the Basic Attributes to Display Resolution, and adjust it there.  As Rob notes, 50% Simple should be good for most cases.

    Does that help?

    Hi Chris,

Just use the Interactive View Navigation (middle mouse button):

(Or set your own key shortcut if you like.  Those "Navigation Tools" are really only intended for beginners...)

Tech got a reaction from Justin Montoya in Import a vector file from Adobe Illustrator
    Hi David,

Adobe has not documented their format for decades, so you have to save back to a very old version of .AI in order to import it into most non-Adobe products that can read AI files.  (Version 8 will work, but v3 also maintains color.)

Better yet, just export a DWG from Illustrator, and import that.

    Do either of those help?

    Hi David,

DWG Imports automatically have their attributes set to Render as Shaded Surface = No (because you typically don't want all the closed shapes filled in), but you can just get the Pick Tool, Select All, and check that option (from the Attributes Tab of the Pick Options) to make your extrusions show up shaded (before or after extruding them).

    Does that help?

Tech got a reaction from AHTOH in Measure Distance tool does not want resize
    Dear Anton,

Did you try measuring a specific object as we show?  If so, that should scale everything.

If you are measuring between objects, it is expected to change the distance between them, BUT if you have a bunch of pre-picked objects, then perhaps it could scale all of them instead.  We will consider this as a suggestion for the future.

Did you check the SketchUp 3dWarehouse?  SketchUp is notorious for bad geometry, but there are lots of cars and people in the Warehouse that were made in other programs and work well.  Just remember to check whatever you Import with the Object Doctor to make sure the geometry is acceptable before using them in your scenes...
