  1. We are pleased to announce AutoDesSys was a recently awarded an Epic MegaGrant to create an interface between form•Z and Epic’s Unreal Engine and Twinmotion. The Datasmith plugin for form•Z is the first product of this exciting collaboration. This plugin allows you to quickly and easily convert your form•Z 3D model for use in Unreal Engine 4 and Twinmotion. Decals are not rendered

Can you try again, but this time just click the Clean button, then render?

    Decals are not rendered

Please try the following: -Disable Decals -Click the Clean button in the VRay Settings palette -Render (just enough to get it to start, you don't need to finish the rendering) -Enable Decals -Render
  4. We are excited to announce that AutoDesSys and Engineered Software are joining forces! PowerCADD has long been recognized as a powerful and natural 2D drawing tool with a solid following. This partnership will enable us to significantly enhance the 2D drawing capabilities we can offer to formZ users. Work has already begun on a new modern PowerCADD. We look forward to sharing details along the way and expect to introduce these exciting new 2D capabilities by the end of next Summer. Here is the announcement on the PowerCADD forum: https://www.engsw.com/PowerCADDForum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=254

    fz 9.2?

Both are released; V-Ray 5 will not work on any version earlier than 9.2 due to interface changes. We will continue developing point releases to address issues, but overall the feedback has been good! If you need any further information, please contact us at support@formz.com.

    fz 9.2?

We are still working through the bugs that you've reported, some of which we have been unable to reproduce. We will be sending an email shortly to address these.
  7. V-Ray 5 for form•Z Beta now available. Details and sign-up here: http://www.formz.com/fzsite1219/home/vray5_beta_Landing.html
  8. Yes, all questions and issues regarding setup should come to support, not sales. If the license server is connected (as it was in your screenshot) but form•Z still does not recognise it, it means there is some sort of cached data causing a conflict. The instructions sent was a document from ChaosGroup that went through the process of a clean installation that would clear any of that cache that may be lingering on your machine. If you need any help getting V-Ray running, or have any files with problematic Components that you can send to us, please contact us at support!
  9. We have received no messages in the support queue from you since July 22nd when a response was delivered within 10 minutes. After not hearing back from you, a follow-up response was sent on August 25th to check in, which also went unanswered. If you are not receiving emails from us, please let us know so we can work through a solution to make our exchanges smoother. Though we do try to make it a point to monitor the forums when we can, it is meant for user discussions and not the primary outlet for support. If you have a file that conveys these Component issues that you're experiencing, we would appreciate you sending it our way to investigate further!

    Please welcome PowerCADD

AHDD, Could you please check your email junk/spam? We sent an email from sales@engsw.com with the link to the demo. We did not receive a support email from you either. Please use support@engsw.com at this time for PowerCADD questions. Please be aware that the current version of PowerCADD supports OS X 10.6.8 - 10.14.x only. We are working on a major upgrade to PowerCADD that in addition to a number of new features, will add support for newer operating systems and Apple silicon. Please bear with us over the next few months as we work on what we feel will be a very strong 2D complement to form•Z.

    VRay 5 beta material bug

Please send details of any issues via email to support@formz.com so that we can properly track you issues rather than posting to the forum. We have not been able to reproduce the issue that you are describing with the previews. If you select "Update material previews" from the menu in the upper right of the palette it should restore the preview images. In what way do you find the material editing to have less capabilities? Everything that was available in for editing V-Ray materials in v3 inside form•Z is present in v5 and we added a lot of capabilities that were previously only available in the external material editor.

    form•Z 9 beta

form•Z 9 beta is coming on 9-5-19! Sign up now to be one of the first to receive the v9 beta software: http://www.formz.com/fz9_beta_request Note that you must have a licensed version of form•Z pro 8.5/8.6 to participate in the beta.
  16. Hello, The V-Ray for form•Z v.5 Beta is not stored on the ChaosGroup site. The link in the email you received will take you to a page on formz.com where you will download form•Z v.9.2 (step 1), the ChaosGroup license server (step 2 if necessary, be sure you're on v.5.5.4), and the V-Ray for form•Z Beta (step 3). If you have any further issues, please contact us at support@formz.com!
  17. Please send us this file by first performing a File > Save a Copy As into an empty folder to copy the file and all references into the new directory. The compress and send the folder to support@formz.com. Thank you!
  18. Hi Darren, It looks like the dimensions are using the scale of the referenced data in the Frame. In other words, if you open the referenced file and draw out those same dimensions, they will likely come out to that same value. If you're getting ready for a print, you should be able to use the Ungroup tool on the Frame to convert the data into the Layout file's scale. You may want to save a copy of the file first in case you need to make any changes later! If you have any further issues, please contact us at support@formz.com.
  19. What OS are you using? At a glance, this appears to have stretched UVs across the face and just needs to be remapped, but you're saying that when you render this in V-Ray it is mapped correctly? Would you be able to show a comparison between the two modes? When you say "real vrmaterial," are you referring to importing a material using the Select Material button in the Material Parameters palette? Applying a material from the preset libraries should work every time, but if you're experiencing this issue from a vrmat that you've edited through v.3's vrmateditor we would be happy to take a look at the file if you send it to support@formz.com. I notice that you're using V-Ray for form•Z v.3 here. Does it look the same when you run v.5? If so, try clicking the Edit Material button (v.5) in the Material Parameters palette to see if it makes a difference (keep in mind that if the material relies on a Bump map that it may not appear in Shaded Work by default, but should appear in Shaded Full okay):
  20. V-Ray 5 for form•Z Beta now available. Details and sign-up here: http://www.formz.com/fzsite1219/home/vray5_beta_Landing.html

    V-Ray update

  23. Though some of the functionality of v.8.6 does continue to work on Big Sur, there are insurmountable conflicts between libraries, primarily in the UI and display, that will make the program difficult to use. If you wish to update to Big Sur, we recommend updating to v.9.1.
  24. We are pleased to announce that formZ 8.6 now available for pro, jr, free and student editions. This version is not available through software update due a technical limitation in the update. form•Z 8.6 uses the same registration codes as v8.5. After installing you will be prompted to register. If you are on a machine with an v8.5 installation, the codes will be pre-filled in the registration dialog. Just accept the terms and click Register. form•Z pro users can install the 8.6 application only which is a much smaller download (Click Here). If you encounter problems or need to perform a clean install, you can use the full installer (Click Here) form•Z jr users need to use the full installer (Click Here). form•Z jr is now 64-bit on Windows form•Z free and form•Z Student Edition users should get get the latest version from the link found in the email you received when you registered for the software.

Note: If you have installed any of the 8.6 WIP versions, please delete the WIP application folder. Please contact us at support@formz.com or start a new forum thread if you have any feedback or issues.
