    Vray Update 5.1

First, be sure you are on the latest version of V-Ray for form•Z. If you click the Utility arrow in the bottom right corner of the VRay Settings palette, you should see the About VRay for formZ option. Select that to find the version you are on. If it isn't v.5.1.x, download and install V-Ray again from step 3 of the setup instructions. If that doesn't work, please provide the file you are having issues with.

    Vray Update 5.1

Decals need to be enabled in the Switches section of the VRay Settings palette. See video. In the future, please contact support@formz.com to make sure we don't miss your question! EnableDecals.mov
  3. Try using the Object Doctor on the objects before the boolean operation. If that doesn't work, please submit the file to support@formz.com for further analysis.

    9.2.01 Doesn't work on Monterey 12.3

This is simply not true. We are as committed to macOS as we have ever been. Unfortunately the recent macOS 12.3 update disturbed apps that use Python 2 (macOS 12.2 and lower do not have an issue). While form•Z is not dependent on Python (it is a “weak” dependency) macOS 12.3 responds that Python 2 is available to the app, even when it is not installed. This was an unexpected issue Apple introduced with this update and why installing the latest version of Python 2.7 fixes the issue. form•Z 10 already uses Python 3. We are currently testing a migration of Python 3 back to v9 so that we can improve compatibility with macOS 12.3 sooner. We are actively working on native support for Apple Silicon (M1) for form•Z 10. While a lot of this work has ben completed, some third party components do not yet support Apple Silicon which limits our ability to release a native M1 version. This should all come together the coming months!

Textures Vray 3 vs Vray 5

The change in material editing was not our choice. The Standalone Material Editor (SME) used in v3 is no longer supported by Chaos. We have invested a lot of time building the material editing capabilities into V-Ray 5 for formZ. Each material method now offers access to many additional parameters and textures that can be layered. Our goal is to offer all of the methods and parameters that you have access to similar V-Ray implementations (SketchUp, Rhino etc). Internal editing also resolves a number of issues caused may the external nature of the old SME. We expect to release v5.1 next week which offers access to some additional shader parameters, more layering and improved import of VRMAT files.

    9.2.01 Doesn't work on Monterey 12.3

12.3 has dropped support for Python v.2, which is the cause for the crash. If you manually download and install Python it should get you back up and running. Here is the link to the Python installer: https://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.7.18/python-2.7.18-macosx10.9.pkg
  8. The form•Z LAB plugins are available for form•Z v9! A single installer installs all of the plugins for form•Z pro form•Z jr or form•Z Student and Faculty Edition. https://lab.formz.com

Where to report issues and bugs?

Thank you for your feedback. Rest assured that work on modern PowerCADD is full swing and we are excited about its future. We have chosen not to reveal more details until it is a more complete product (remember you only get one chance to make a good impression). For those of you not familiar with PowerCADD, it is a wonderful drawing tool that has been around as long as form•Z with an equally passionate user base. Unfortunately, the current PowerCADD 9 product is not compatible with the newer operating systems. We are in the process of modernizing the product and adding some import new features. When complete we will have a dedicated 2D drawing tool that will exceed the capabilities of layout.

    Twinmotion export problem

The Twinmotion translator seems to be working as expected. Try backing up using the 'S' key to see if perhaps the object is just out of sight.

  15. We are excited to announce that AutoDesSys and Engineered Software are joining forces! PowerCADD has long been recognized as a powerful and natural 2D drawing tool with a solid following. This partnership will enable us to significantly enhance the 2D drawing capabilities we can offer to formZ users. Work has already begun on a new modern PowerCADD. We look forward to sharing details along the way and expect to introduce these exciting new 2D capabilities by the end of next Summer. Here is the announcement on the PowerCADD forum: https://www.engsw.com/PowerCADDForum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=254
  16. It appears that Apple dropped support for certain formats of legacy bitmap graphics in OS X 10.13 High Sierra. form•Z 6 uses this format for some of its palette graphics. To fix this you will need to replace the resource file in your current installation with a new one that contains updated graphics that are supported by OS X 10.13. Please follow these Steps: • Be sure that you have form•Z 6.7.3 installed. This fix will only work for form•Z 6.7.3. If you don't have it, you can download it here: http://www.formz.com/products/formz/update/formz_6_Upgrade_Professional.html • Download "formZ_RenderZone_Plus.rsrc.zip" below if you have a form•Z RenderZone Plus installation or "formZ.rsrc.zip" if you have a regular form•Z installation. If necessary, extract the zip file. You should now have a file named “formZ RenderZone Plus.rsrc” or "formZ.rsrc". • Locate your formZ 6.7.3 Application folder (Usually in Applications/formZ/) • Right-click on the "formZ RenderZone Plus" or "formZ" application icon and select "Show Package Contents" from the menu. • Open the "Contents" Folder. • Open the "Resources" Folder. • Replace resource file in the "Resources" Folder with the one that you downloaded. • Launch form•Z 6.7.3! formZ_RenderZone_Plus.rsrc.zip formZ.rsrc.zip
  17. We are pleased to announce AutoDesSys was a recently awarded an Epic MegaGrant to create an interface between form•Z and Epic’s Unreal Engine and Twinmotion. The Datasmith plugin for form•Z is the first product of this exciting collaboration. This plugin allows you to quickly and easily convert your form•Z 3D model for use in Unreal Engine 4 and Twinmotion. A Technology Preview of the Datasmith plugin for form•Z is now available here: http://www.formz.com/fzsite1219/products/unreal.html

    fz 9.2?

Both are released; V-Ray 5 will not work on any version earlier than 9.2 due to interface changes. We will continue developing point releases to address issues, but overall the feedback has been good! If you need any further information, please contact us at support@formz.com.

    fz 9.2?

We are still working through the bugs that you've reported, some of which we have been unable to reproduce. We will be sending an email shortly to address these.
  22. V-Ray 5 for form•Z Beta now available. Details and sign-up here: http://www.formz.com/fzsite1219/home/vray5_beta_Landing.html
  23. Yes, all questions and issues regarding setup should come to support, not sales. If the license server is connected (as it was in your screenshot) but form•Z still does not recognise it, it means there is some sort of cached data causing a conflict. The instructions sent was a document from ChaosGroup that went through the process of a clean installation that would clear any of that cache that may be lingering on your machine. If you need any help getting V-Ray running, or have any files with problematic Components that you can send to us, please contact us at support!
  24. We have received no messages in the support queue from you since July 22nd when a response was delivered within 10 minutes. After not hearing back from you, a follow-up response was sent on August 25th to check in, which also went unanswered. If you are not receiving emails from us, please let us know so we can work through a solution to make our exchanges smoother. Though we do try to make it a point to monitor the forums when we can, it is meant for user discussions and not the primary outlet for support. If you have a file that conveys these Component issues that you're experiencing, we would appreciate you sending it our way to investigate further!

    Please welcome PowerCADD

AHDD, Could you please check your email junk/spam? We sent an email from sales@engsw.com with the link to the demo. We did not receive a support email from you either. Please use support@engsw.com at this time for PowerCADD questions. Please be aware that the current version of PowerCADD supports OS X 10.6.8 - 10.14.x only. We are working on a major upgrade to PowerCADD that in addition to a number of new features, will add support for newer operating systems and Apple silicon. Please bear with us over the next few months as we work on what we feel will be a very strong 2D complement to form•Z.
