Bartjuan got a reaction from AlexissMn in Select Object from Object palette fail
I think it would be nice if I picked an object by selecting the red check column in the object palette the whole object gets selected regardless of the topological selection level.

Right now the object selection by the object palette forbids you from making a selection if the topological level is not "Object" or Auto. I click and nothing happens, it feels like it is broken.

Surely this has been covered somewhere else but I couldn't find a discussion, sorry if it is a repeat.

    Excellent!
+1 for android but I am sure that will follow soon after.

    Thanks!

Bartjuan got a reaction from etroxel in Rotate and change copy mode
If I try to rotate an object and realize I have the wrong self/copy mode, I can tap ALT to dynamically change the mode.
But, FormZ loses the current pick point for the rotation start point and resets the angular grid to a small circle.

On a move operation, it remembers the start point and just turns on/off the copy.

Can we get the rotate command to do the same thing?
so I don't have to re-pick the start point after I tap the ALT key.

    Thanks

Bartjuan got a reaction from ¢hris £und in HLD using material override by layer
This might end up in the scripting/plugin forum.

I do a lot of hand sketching over a hidden line perspective drawings.
With larger scenes, the Hidden Line Display mode takes FOREVER. I dont need vectors, just a raster image.
I was hoping for a shaded mode/no materials rendering mode but it didn't happen.

However, I discovered that if I change all my layers to have a material override and set the material to a catcher,  I get a great, fast Hidden Line Display.
The only problem is,  I still want to use layer overrides for some other materials ( component doors and windows for example.) when I go back to full color.

I would love a script/plugin that collects the material override state of each layer, saves it to a list, and then sets the override to a catcher material. When toggled off, it can restore the layers to their previous states.

OR ADS, add a check box under shaded mode  for HLD that removes all color and texture from the scene.

    Thanks,

This looks like a nice way to present and share projects.
I look forward to more testing.

A walk-through navigation mode would be a welcome addition for Arch models.
I suppose saving a series of views might get you close.

Is the recommended method of uploading files icloud / dropbox accounts?
I don't know my iOS as well as I do Android. But it seem like you don't have access to on device storage in an iOS device so a USB transfer of a file is likely not the best option.

    OK,

    Feature Request:
RenderZone light types fully integrated into the FormZ Modelling environment.
Specifically, ability to group lights and adjust Falloff, Intensity, Color Temp, etc by group.

We can move this to the other forum if needed.

    Thanks!

Bartjuan got a reaction from ¢hris £und in Improved material editor
I'm not sure we need a full node based materials editor but I would love to be able to stack materials over a surface.  Yes we have decals but, I would like to be able to create a single material with multiple diffuse maps and a way to control the blending (via alpha channel, "heat map."etc).
this would be great for grunge maps, and organic materials.
UV Unwrap for textures normal maps (esp for sub-D modelling)

Bartjuan got a reaction from Ekbergzem in Dynamic Reference plane lost
I am long long time FormZ user but only recently upgraded from FZ6

Somehow I have disabled the automatic (dynamic) reference plane in a file I am working in,
It works fin in new files but I cant find the setting to get dynamic reference planes working again in an existing file,

Any help? What am I missing...

Bartjuan got a reaction from Charlesbize in Control Multiple (Accurate) Lights
I just got back into formZ (8 pro) after using 6 for many years.
I remember following the forums as 7 and 8 came out and learning the light groups no longer allowed overrides for accurate lights, is this still correct?

I have a file with several (identical) Custom Lights, using photometric properties. I would like to be able to change the color temp and lumins of them all, as a group, rather than one by one.
In there a way to do this with native FormZ? do I have to go to simple lights? should I create a component??

I believe our friends at python have a plugin, will it do what I need?

    Thanks!
