“After graduating from the Ohio State Austin E. Knowlton School of Architecture in 1996, form•Z was one of the first major purchases I made. The software has opened up opportunities for me that I only dreamed of in school. I thoroughly enjoy the time I spend creating architectural images. When you can enjoy your work as if it were a hobby, you know you have something good.”

This "Limited Special" model from Chris Reeve Knives was already sold out, so the only way to present this model was to reconstruct it in 3D. "I am quite proud of the result and AutoDesSys should be too! form•Z is really a great tool."- Album created by AutoDesSys

Burgess & Niple, Inc.
Nikalete Funk
Columbus, Ohio
http://www.burgessniple.com
nfunk@burnip.com
I am a designer for Burgess & Niple, Inc. I started as an intern in 2006 while I was attending Ohio State University. After graduation I was hired on full time. The company is an Engineering/Architecture firm. B&N was established in 1912 in Columbus, Ohio. Since then, we have served thousands of clients in the U.S. and abroad, including government agencies, military organizations, colleges and universities, and a wide variety of private companies. On the most fundamental level, our job is responding to clients and translating their visions into structures and infrastructures that work in today and long into the future. We are innovative problem solvers with extensive resources and an award-winning track record.
Over the past 15 years, downtown Charlottesville, Virginia has experienced an ongoing renaissance. New businesses, restaurants, theaters and residences abound in renovated buildings and new developments alike. However, two full city blocks lie underutilized just one block south of Charlottesville is renowned pedestrian mall. This site, currently used for parking, hosts the popular Charlottesville City Market on spring and summer weekends and is widely regarded as the most important underdeveloped site in the city.
Responding to a public call to craft a vision for the future of the site, the City of Charlottesville sponsored MARKET VALUE, a design ideas competition that will help Charlottesville proactively investigate and establish the best alternatives for development. Directed by the City of Charlottesville in partnership with the Charlottesville Community Design Center and AIA Central Virginia, MARKET VALUE sought out realistic, innovative models for mixed-use development - ones that not only yield financial returns for a future developer of the site, but also provide a return on investment to the public good by attending to issues of civic space, connectivity, affordable housing and green building.

Bunker, John
Artifix
London, England
Artifx@aol.com
Film Production Designer
"Jon Bunker has been working in the film industry for nearly thirty years and has been a Film Production Designer for a number of successful films, including Vertical Limit and Gladiator. With a background in architecture and illustration, he worked as an aircraft designer and an architect before settling on a career behind the silver screen. Aside from his current role as Film Production Designer, he has also experienced other aspects of movie-making as a special effects supervisor and as a director. "A lot of people don't realize how much thought goes into all of the little things. You would be surprised at the trivia it is necessary to think about: Which way does a door open? How far to walk across to say a line? How are the SFX going to work? And on and on... Generally, when a director decides to film a script, he will ask me to come up with artistic interpretations based on the feel, style, and specific script requirements. This is all tempered, of course, with my meetings with the producer, who expects me to stay within the budget!"- Album created by AutoDesSys

Brandes Maselli Architects
Bernardsville, New Jersey

stephenk@brandesmaselli.com
"What will it look like if...?', a constant question posed between and directed towards architects/designers. form•Z allows our firm to answer this critical question in a expeditious fashion for the benefit of both ourselves and our clients. From schematic massing to construction template generation, form•Z plays an integral role in all phases of our design and fabrication projects. As a firm tied to no particular style or building methodology, the capability to continually explore/evolve ideas, while simultaneously generating presentation material for our clients, makes form•Z an invaluable tool. The two projects shown here are prime examples of these capabilities. The first (right), an enormous timber-frame structure, with references to Colorado houses admired by the client, uses both interior and exterior animations for explanatory purposes. In the second (below), a renovation of a geodesic dome house for a copper smith. 39 .dxf templates taken from the form•Z model will allow the client to construct the complex structure using CNC machinery in his own shop."- Album created by AutoDesSys

"I am a traditional illustrator and use form•Z primarily to create mass models to select potential views for watercolor illustrations. We became involved in the project shown here at an early stage and we produced a variety of renderings showing different design alternatives. As the client was looking for a unique and distinctive design, form•Z allowed us to clearly present our concepts and the client was able to completely understand our designs. form•Z is a staple in my studio. It allows you to model fast and RenderZone renders very good images for presentation."- Album created by AutoDesSys

Green dreams by local architects are all part of an emerging vision for bringing MacArthur Square, dead zone in front of the Milwaukee County Courthouse, back to life. The city-owned square, suffering from years of deferred maintenance, was cut off from the downtown in 1967 with the construction of an underground parking garage and tunnels to I-43. A residential green tower could house dorms for Marquette University or Milwaukee Area Technical College.- Album created by AutoDesSys

"I became a form•Z user a couple of years ago when I was designing interiors and rooms for an exhibition company. Now I work mostly as an information designer at Noss AB, a Swedish company developing and manufacturing equipment for the pulp and paper industry. Our 3D-presentations for print and screen are all modeled and rendered in form•Z RenderZone, which I find very functional and useful in several design and illustration fields."- Album created by AutoDesSys

Alan Cooper
We use FormZ for designing the furniture in 3d and to organise the parts by number and assembly groups. We export the data to a csv file before adjusting with a macro using Open Office Calc before importing with Cutlistplus to efficiently lay out the parts on the boards. We then construct and paint or finish the wood in our own workshop before installing in our customers' homes.
We are bespoke cabinetmakers providing a fitted furniture design, make and install service for our local customers around Aylesbury, Bucks UK.
We have 20 images relating to a recent project of a bespoke alcove cupboard which take you through the computer aided design stages from design through to completed project. They can be found at this link:
