To make a texture emit light without using MXED:

 

1. In the material's "Shaded" representation, use an HDRI image in the color channel.

2. In the material's "Maxwell" representation, set the Translate Shaded hint to Emitter, and Color to HDRI.

To create a glow around the objects, experiment with Maxwell's Simulens feature:

Test image with the Simulens Diffraction value at 1250:
