Is it possible to apply HDRIs to an enclosed, interior scene?

I've been trying to experiment with applying HDRI lighting to an interior with no exterior lighting (no windows).  Is it possible to map an HDRI into a sealed, interior space?  If anyone has done this before and has suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sven,

Welcome to the forum.

Yes, you can do that.  Just turn off  the shadow casting for that light, or (better yet) turn off the shadow casting for the enclosing object(s).

Does that do what you want?

Thanks for your response.  Turn off the shadow casting for the IBL light or the enclosing objects (walls, ceiling, and floor)?  By doing this the HDRI will affect the environmental lighting within the closed interior by somehow penetrating the walls?

uh, yes, no shadows = no blocking of the light.

As zTech says, "better yet turn off the shadow casting attribute of the surrounding objects."  Then you can get shadow casting from the objects within the scene (onto the surrounding objects if you leave the Receive Shadows on for those objects).

IBL light -- are you using Maxwell?
