Charles Freeborn
When I attempt to animate the rotation of a screw it causes a hang, with blank screen in animation time line, spinning beach ball, then crash. Is my early 2009 iMac incapable of creating / running F•Z animations? File size exceeds limits for attachment. In short, it's a .5" dia x 9" long Acme thread, hex head screw. Tech
Hi Charles, Per our email earlier in the day, there can be an issue with clicking in the Palettes on some computers running Yosemite. Did you apply the Update for Yosemite that we recommended in our reply? http://forums.formz.com/index.php?/topic/668-formz-801-yosemite-hot-fix/ And if that does not solve the problem, please email the file to support@formz.com so we can take a look and see what else to suggest (if necessary). Charles Freeborn
Yes, update installed, .dylib file replaced, computer re-started. Performance is abysmal across the board, and crashing as previously stated. Thanks, -C
Tech
What video card does your iMac have? (Does it meet the System Requirements as noted in the OpenGL section of our Requirements?) Also, is the screw you are trying to animate high resolution -- and Smooth or Facetted? (Use a low resolution facetted screw for best / fastest results.) Charles Freeborn
Video card in my machine is not even on the list. Scores in the 300's. Part is faceted, not rendered. So, no animation for me....
Tech
Hi Charles, We have no problem animating the lower resolution facetted screw with ~20,000 faces that we sent back to you. Did you try with this file? (Generating animations does require some processing power, so using a 6 year old iMac is probably not the best plan if you are on a tight deadline...)
