Des
I always assumed the GMT offset took into account daylight saving, but no-matter what date I input, the GMT is always 1 hour ahead. Have I been doing it wrong all this time?
pylon
Hi Des, Location is set via city, or longitude/latitude. Daylight Saving not observed automatically. A site may be anywhere on the globe- not just major cities- so a prohibitively large database of daylight saving geographical boundaries would have to be maintained. Also, the period when daylight saving is observed is subject to local laws that periodically change. Adjust the GMT offset to accomodate Daylight Saving. For instance, here in L.A., we are -7 or -8, depending on the time of year. I usually consult this service for site and timedate info: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/usa/los-angeles
