Trick
I just installed a fresh copy of v801...everything default!! When I go into the display menu and CTRL+SHIFT click any display item (the items with the * behind the name), I normally used to get the Display Options Palette. Now I get the contextual help (PDF) manual !?!? I tried setting different key shortcut, but whatever I try (including loading the default shortcuts), nothing helps. How do I get the option palettes when clicking *-menu items ???
Tech
Hi Trick, Welcome to the new forum! The key shortcut to access options for menu items with asterisks has been changed to the Option key on OS X, or the Alt key on Windows. The Display Options all have their own palette now, which you can also access by pressing the F9 key, or selecting it from the Palette Menu. Lots of other useful tips for the changes between the old interface of v6 and earlier to the current one can be found here: http://forums.formz.com/index.php?/topic/19-formz-v7-8-migration-guide-interface-improvements-from-formz-6/ Please let us know if you have any further questions, we would be glad to help. setz
This seems to be a problem related to using the combination of CTRL+SHFT as a Key Shortcut. I use CTRL+SHFT+A for a sct and after using FZ for awhile - an hour or two, the sct stops functioning as set and instead, opens the manual (In the default Browser) as you describe. Restarting resets the key sct and temporarily fixes the problem. FZ 8.0.1 OSX 10.9.5 Mac Pro 2012 Dual 3.06 6 core
Tech
Hi Robert, If the Shift key is depressed while selecting a tool or menu item, the manual will open to the associated page by default. We have tested using Ctrl+Shift+A key as a shortcut, and are not having any issues. What command are you using this for, and to which page does the manual open? Trick
The issue is not about HOW I can get the display options. It's just that the manual says you can get the options by CTRL+SHIFT clicking the menu item (when there is an * behind the menu item name). When I do that I get the associated help item???? Tech
How do I get the option palettes when clicking *-menu items ??? Hi Trick, Sorry, we thought you were trying to access the options. We verified that there is one place in the manual that does indicate the old (ctrl-shift) method for Windows. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, we will get this corrected. setz
Sloppy reporting. I actually meant CMD+SHFT+A which I use for Deselect. It opens the title page of the Manual. Sorry for wasting your time testing the wrong keys. Ugh.

Trick
Is there a way to switch off the (CTRL+SHIFT)/contextual help function?
Tech
Hi Trick, Just using Shift while selecting a Menu item will bring up the Help. Using the ALT key (Windows) or Option key (Mac) will bring up the options. Is there a reason you wish to disable the Manual Access?
