Spacer
HI, I have searched the forums to find the best way to map a leather cushion with buttons. earlier posts like this one are great, but I am wondering if newer tools can make it faster: http://www.formz.com/forum/old/messages/16/61782.html I did find FZnoob's subD tutorial for a leather chair, but it does not have the button inset, just a linear crease inset. I suppose that it may have a logic I could apply to making the button insets, but I have yet to go through the whole tutorial (yes I am being lazy, no i am not lazy in general, just under deadline...) http://forums.formz.com/index.php?/topic/5008-model-a-leather-chair-with-sub-division-pt1/ any ideas? Thanks- Peter
FZnoob
Sounds like you are going to need more than just "mapping" to do what you are describing. You will need to create some geometry to give the "tuck" effect where the button is attached. Why don't you give it a go? Find yourself a good reference photo and study it. Start with a rectangle more or less the size shape you want. Subdivide it and start manipulating the geometry. Here is a quick example I did a while back for someone. I am guessing it took me 10 maybe 15 minutes.
Spacer
Hi FZNoob, thanks. There is a tutorial on the FZ website using nurbz for this. i was just hoping that subD would be quicker and better. Once I finish current job, i'll have time to test and see for myself. I'll be sure to report back if my findings are useful. Peter
