Spacer
Hi, Should i edit components as Embedded or in their Library? I have the same components in both. I am trying to edit the colors of th components, but they are changing themselves in strange ways. In the Model the collors of different object parts of the components do not correspond to the Components themselves either in the component Manager window, nor when I open the Component... The colors are being switched around.. Thanks for any advice- My whole project is bases on proposing alternative color schemes using components to change may objects in each component.. I need to get this stable and working! Best- Peter
Tech
Peter, An individual component is either Embedded or in an external library, it should not be both. Using an external library can keep the size of your file small, but depending on where these external components are located, if you move the location of your formZ file, you may have to re-link the components. With that being said, it sounds like you want two of the same component with different colors, correct? If so, you can use a single component and change the color by accessing the Component Manager, right clicking on the component, select "Open 'Component 1'" and then change the color, save the component file, and then it will be updated in your project file. Does this help?
Spacer
Ok, so if I have an embedded library and a dedicated one, how to transfer all to one library and nix the embedded one?, pls?
Spacer
Ok, sO I re-did my components library- got rid of the embedded library, and now FZ automatically creates components in the embedded library, apparently from the components I places from the named library. So does this mean that I should never 'touch' (delete for example) the Embedded Library?
Tech
Spacer, Can you send your file (and your external components) so we can have a better idea of what you're trying to achieve?
DennisA
I have had continual issues (has been reported to support) where the User Components have lost their links to the embedded components. If you want to keep using user components the embedded components have to be replaced with the user component.
