Xtrudio
Hello, I have a problem rendering an older model, to match the original image. Here is the story. In 2011 I produced a 3d map of Manhattan and delivered a HiRes photoshop file, stacked with color adjustment layers so the client will be able to tint whatever buildings they need for their projects. See below. The agreement was that if needed, I will update the base image, which I did the following year without a problem. Now, after 5 years, several FormZ versions, operating systems and computers, I need to update the base image once more. The problem is that even if I use exactly the same view parameters and image options, the resulting rendering doesn't match the original one. They both are the same pixel size but the content is different, the new one is smaller within the frame. Even if I scale the new image, it would not perfectly match the original one, so the layers they built in the mean time would be rendered more or less useless. I believe the original model was created using FormZ 6 What can I do? Are there any preferences I can change or an algorithm to alter the view parameters so the resulting image will match the old one? Thank you, Horia
Bo Atkinson
There is likely a discrepancy between your old display-screen, (resolution-settings), as compared with your current one. You can simply go to- Menu/ Display/ Image/ options Then Use Custom Setting All in order to match the older display screen.

pylon
What view type is it (Axonometric, 2D perspective, 3D perspective, etc.)?
Xtrudio
Bo, did that first thing. The settings are identical. Pylon, it is 2D perspective. At the time the model was created used to be perspective with "keep verticals straight" checked. Thanks.
Bo Atkinson
“They both are the same pixel size but the content is different, the new one is smaller within the frame.” Did you match the multiple options of “View Parameters” and … At this point, without your original settings, perhaps you will need to manually recreate the “Zoom Options”/ “Fit Border”
Tech
Hi Xtrudio, Have you tried the Match View tool?
pylon
Hi Xtrudio, I may be able to help with the view match; please contact me by email if you cannot find a solution through the formZ UI:
setz
Very intriguing. Can you upload the original V6 file with the camera and some reduced basic geometry to test with?
setz
I think what has happened is this. The way zoom worked in V6 was different than the way it works in V8. In V6 If you save a view and then zoom in with the school wheel and then save that second zoomed in view, you will notice that the view parameters for the two views are the same even though the actual view is different. I'm guessing that the view which was saved way back in 2011 was zoomed in with the scroll wheel prior to saving. I have been trying a number of ways to recreate or convert a zoomed view in V6 to an identical non zoomed view without success. I suppose for now you may have to do your edits in V8 or V6 and then go back to V6 to re render with your original saved view. Pylon has a great knowledge of the inner workings of views and he may well be able to look at your original file and be able to decipher how to extrapolate the amount and center of the mouse zoom in comparison to the saved view parameters.
