kac
When I select groups of faces and try to apply a draft angle I almost always get "Unable To Complete Smooth Modeling Operation. ID = SM.11:" error and the tool fails. The angles are really small usually 1° - 2°. Am I using the tool wrong? Tech
Hi kac, Can you post your file to the forum that is not working properly? We are unable to reproduce this problem with some example files on our machines, so perhaps there is another issue specific to your object. kac
I can't post the particular files because they are going for a patent. Seems to happen when shapes become too complex such as when chamfers are added and/or not continuous surfaces common from imported objects. I'll try to narrow it down and make something that generates the same error.
Tech
Hi Ken, It is possible that some edges and corners might be "too tight" for the Draft Angle to be calculated. A similar error may appear when trying to round certain faces. If you do not wish to post your file on the forum, you can send it to support@formz.com. We do not share files/images without explicit consent of the user and it will be used for troubleshooting/diagnostic purposes only.

DanM
Usually it's best to apply draft angles as early as possible when the geometry is simple and afterward add details such as chamfers and fillets. Or use a dedicated CAD program that recalculates features such as fillets once you apply draft angles, rather then distort the fillets the way form-z does. kac
Unfortunately I am editing some objects created outside of FZ. One I had actually reconstructed within FZ and even without any fillets or pockets I still had the same error.
