virgox2
I'm no expert on FormZ and I need help with something very basic. How do i adjust the dimensions of a cube or other geometry for example? In some other modeling tools I've used, there's a little parameter box somewhere that allows changes to X,Y,Z. Can't find this in FormZ... please help. e.g. I create a rectangle, extrude with the Reshape tool, then later on I go back to this rectangular prism and want to modify any or all its L,W,H. How? Thanks.
DennisA
Once you reshape a extruded object it loses the ability to use Tool Options/ Parameters tool to enter numerics. Same goes for a cube.
virgox2
Ok – noted and thanks.
¢hris £und
Not quite True. Select the object, then in the "Tool Options" "Parameters" Tab, you can edit the dimensions there, Width, Length, and height. If you make changes to that, say apply a boolean to it, then you lose access to this kind of alteration.
virgox2
awesome that works!! Thanks Chris. unfortunately I found that I couldn't change anything (except the height) if I created a profile and then extruded it using the Reshape tool. ¢hris £und
Kind of makes sense, though, have to admit, it would be nice if the reshape tool adjusted the parameters instead of the "raw" geometry. If you wish to alter it via the parameters visually instead of numerically (assuming it still has parameters): Hover over the object (does not need to be selected) Right click, and drag down to "Show Controls". Here you can visually edit the parameters. Hope this helps ¢£

If so, although upon right-click I do see the Show Controls, unfortunately I wasn't able to select it nor the Parameters. Pls advise.. thanks. ¢hris £und
No, it has to be before a reshape. essentially doing the same thing, except with the controls. You are correct, that the reshape tool "destroys" the control parameters.
virgox2
Ok – I'm able to select both those options before reshaping. I just drag the arrows in either direction to resize. Thanks. One more question here... (didn't know if I should start a new thread): Although I'm just using the FormZ Free version, is there a full or even partial set of drafting & detailing tools in this program – even if only in the Pro version? Thx.
¢hris £und
Haven't used the free version to compare. The Pro version has all of it's dimensioning tools in the 3D environment. They are in with the "Text" tools. It has a supplemental application for creating documents from your models. Though, it does not output in a manner that I wish, so I avoid it, for now.
