Rudy Daverveld Posted September 13, 2016 Share Posted September 13, 2016 Hi I'm trying to create a forrest with reference objects in form z with maxwell, but this is not working. When I select an object and then click on the create reference button, I get the option where to create the referencepoint, but then nothing happens when I click for instance "clickpoint" I tried to create a proof of concept with a simple cube, but this is also not working. pylon Posted September 13, 2016 Share Posted September 13, 2016 Hi Rudy, Select the Create MXS Tool, then click on an object. The MXS save dialog will appear, prompting you to enter a filename and location. (Post picking is also supported, where you click anywhere in the modeling workspace after selecting the objects and then the tool.) If this is not working for you, please run the command "Extensions> Maxwell Render> Forum" and post the resulting text here, so we can test on a system equivalent to yours. We need a bit more information about your context. Please make a new project, build a cube, and do a Maxwell render. My method: opening a new form z file, creating a cube, selecting the cube, clicking on create mxs, and then the window appears with selection of the entry point, I select for instance, click point, then that selection window disappears and nothing happens. When you say "window appears with selection" do you mean the "Tool Options Palette?" If you have the "Return to Pick Tool" option enabled in Preferences>Modeling, please disable it and see if that helps. Please take a screen capture video of your whole process and email it to . Apparently, the custom tools behave differently (invoking a modal dialog, then not acting on the subsequent click) when you use a custom workspace where you drag them into the "Tool Dock" area. (We have asked ADS for clarification as to why this might be.) To fix this, you can do one of two things: A) Reset your workspace. (Workspace > Reset Workspace.) This will put the tools back in the "Extensions" palette in the "Modeling Tools" area, where they appear by default. This tool palette will behave like any other. or B ) If you do not wish to reset your workspace, go to Workspace>Tool Manager. First, delete your previous icons from the "Tool Dock" area at the top of the screen. Then, click the "New Tool Dock" button, name it, then select "Extensions" from the list and drag all the Maxwell Tools into the newly created modeling palette. I do not think that this custom palette can be docked, but you can make it appear at any time by selecting it from the "Palettes" menu (formZ main menubar). After this, the options will appear in the "Tool Options" palette in the normal fashion, and the tool will work as expected. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
