Chris Yessios Retirement announcement

Recommended Posts

Dear formZers:

After 25 years, it is with highly mixed feelings that I announce my retirement from the position of President and CEO of AutoDesSys Inc. Alexandra Yessios, VP for Marketing and Sales is also retiring. But I am happy to let you know that I leave my post in good hands, to David Kropp who is taking over as President and CEO of the company.

I have been working part time the last couple of years as my wife and I gradually transitioned into spending more time with our children and grand children away from Columbus. Dave, as the co-founder of AutoDesSys and fully knowledgeable of the state of affairs in the company, has been running it quite efficiently and successfully, which confirms that AutoDesSys is in good hands.

I wish to take this opportunity and wholeheartedly thank you all for your support and love for form•Z over the past 25 years and I like to think that all of us here at AutoDesSys were able to contribute a bit to your professional achievements with the 3D tools we offered. It has been a joyful ride full of excitement and discoveries. So many techniques the younger users take for granted today became causes for celebrations in the past, as we pioneered major steps in the development of the digital tools. I have no doubt that the evolution is still in progress and I am hopeful that I may still contribute some while away from the routine of the daily practicalities.

I wish you the best in the pursuit of your objectives and goals.

Chris I. Yessios, PhD
Past President and CEO
AutoDesSys, Inc.

Hi Chris,

I wish you and Alexandra the very best for the future, I'm sure you'll be missed in ADS and here on the forum.

Keep your nose in here if you get a chance  :)

Chris and Alex,

As a relatively recent user of FormZ I appreciate very much all the work you have put in to develop it into the extremely satisfying set of tools that it has become, and also the way you have run the company so that the customers feel that the hugely skilled staff really are listening and they and their requirements are individually valued.

You also will be remembered and valued always. Have a long and wonderful retirement!

Alan.

I wrote a reply earlier but noticed it never made it to your post.

Good luck to both you & Alexandria on your retirements. I have been on this formZers trip with both of you over the years most of the way.

Best Regards,

Dennis

Hello Chris & Alexandra,

Thanks for all your hard work and creative efforts over the years. Having started with Z at v2 or 3 (so many years ago!) it has been a great journey. I can think of few other products or brands that I have stayed with over such a long period of time. It is testament to your vision, commitment to quality and excellent customer support.

Enjoy the future!

Warm regards,

Gary Helfand

Hello Chriss, Alexandra,

Although we never met, we worked every day with each other in some way. Since version 2.8 my main app is Form Z. I work in it every day, and all my work revolves around it.

Thanks for the best support company, and a mighty peace of software!

All the best for the future!

Kind regards,

Chris and Alex, I wish you both the best. Your software, your company and your passion for the learning community is what set this software apart from many others that have long since dissolved.

Selfishly, I have made a living using it as part of my toolkit for over 20 years!  Like the warm summer night in San Antonio when I first met both of you a long while back, I sit in the breezy evening air tonight and raise a smile of thanks to you and the ADS family.

Best of luck to you.

Chris, when I had you as a design critic in 1976 I had no idea how much you would impact my career, and how much money I would eventually send you ;-) When I started using form.z in 1994, our architecture firm had 20 people, we are now over 160 architects in six offices. I have to give form.z credit for much of that success. With all the available tools today it can be hard to look back to the early 90's and remember just how groundbreaking a product form.z was. There was nothing like it.

You have always had strong opinions and a focus on what form.z should be. I have disagreed with you at times, but clearly that focus is what has kept form.z such a great product. I hope you enjoy a well deserved rest knowing the impact you have had not just on the industry, but on so many individuals who have grown up with your software. Thank you.

Best wishes,

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Yessios,

Thank you so much for creating FormZ which I've been using since 1995.

I would describe FormZ as 'idiosyncratic, sometimes quirky but always powerful and engaging'. The main reason I keep returning to FormZ are the stellar customer support and forums.

Thank you again, best wishes,

Tom

Big congratulations.

A permanent bright star has been created in the universe of 3D, and I wish you, your families, and Autodessys nothing but the best over the next 25 years.

I still remember my first impression of FormZ in 1996; upon realizing there was a program at my disposal that could actually model a curly telephone cord realistically (remember those?!?), I realized two things:

1) These people (Autodessys) are really, really, really good at math. : )    (I'm not)

2) I will forever appreciate the finely crafted things that small teams of dedicated people can create.

Enjoy your next journey.

Yes, those young turks don't know how good they have it. I think I still have a formz 2.8 dongle and discs somewhere. They might even be floppies.

Thanks to you and your company Chris for all your great work over the years. Best wishes for your retirement.

Sorry for my very late reply.

By way of a tribute, I'll just like to say  Form Z saved my 3d life and is currently helping me find pleasure in my work in recent years. It's a long story, but that's the long and short of it. I've not had the pleasure of meeting any of the brains behind this tool, but if the tool is anything to go by, they must be really great souls, can't but wish you all the best as you venture forth.
