Confirm export image actually saved

This is a bit obscure I know but this is how I work.

I use FormZ and AutoCAD in conjunction (layout is still useless to me - another topic)

I will often put renderings into an AutoCAD layout.

If I have the AutoCAD file, with the rendered image ( typically PNG) OPEN,  AutoCAD locks the PNG file.

If I am back in FZ and I re-export an updated image with the same name, formZ appears to write the file but, If I go to the folder, the image has not been updated ( cuz its locked by AutoCAD)

I want to keep the same name because it is a live link in AutoCAD.

Is there a way for the FormZ export dialog to recognize that the file is locked and put up a warning the file has not been written to disc.

Hi Bart,

You should get a message if formZ is unable to write the file.  Upon first test, this is working fine for us, but we will continue investigating this to see if we can find a case where it is not working.

If you just Export an Image, then set it to Read Only Properties, and try to export again, do you reproduce it that way -- or only when it is open in Autocad?

Marking a file Read Only does give the expected response " File is read only..."

However, when the file is loaded in an AutoCAD no such message.

Autodesk forum info says the file locking is handled by the OS ( windows) not by AutoCAD??

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/File-locking-no-longer-controlled-by-software.html

So it seems there is some other. OS based Lock, that FZ is not recognizing.
