-andrew-
Let's say i want to draw a question mark, but want to use a line to draw it, then offset the line in all directions to create a polygon in the shape of the question mark. (ok, not including the dot underneath...) Is there a way to do that in a single operation? thanks, Andrew
setz
In the options of the line drawing tools you can choose "2D Wall" or "3D wall". This will give you what you are looking for. If you already have a line you want to convert, you can use the 2D Wall Tool or the 3D Wall Tool.
-andrew-
Hi setz- Thanks - that works pretty well, but only offsets parallel to the line, and terminates where the line is perpendicular to the start and end points - is there a way to do that and add 1/2 the wall width to the ends, too? cheers Andrew
Tech
Hi Andrew, As Setz notes, the Wall modifier should generally do what you want, but you will need to draw your shape just a little longer to get the desired length.
setz
Extend Segment and Curve Extend can be set to the same distances as the offset to make this an easy task.
