Hi,

Hopefully someone can help?

I have just downloaded Form Z Free but when I open the programme I receive an error message 'OpenGL 3.2 or later is required'.

I am running Windows 8.1 and to the best of my knowledge all of my drivers are up to date.

Cheers,

DMC

Thanks for the reply, the video card is Intel HD Graphics 3000.

Not sure how I find out the date of the driver but I have tried to install the latest updates from Microsoft earlier today.

DMC, I have an HP laptop which did not officially support open GL 3.2 and was also getting the message and refusal to run but a computer expert was able to install a driver which did somehow, I think by overruling a permission, not really sure, but there could be hope even if your computer does not appear to officially support it.

Hi DMC,

As noted on our system requirements page:

formZ version 8 (Pro, Jr, and Free) require a video card and driver that supports OpenGL version 3.2 in order to display objects properly.  If you are getting an error that this is required, then either your card, or its driver, don't properly support this.

The first thing you should try to solve this would be to upgrade the video driver.  If you are on a Mac, this is included automatically with the Apple Menu: Software Update.  If you are on Windows, you need to manually download the current driver and install this.  (Don't try to use Windows Update to do this.)  If you have a laptop, go to the web site of the manufacturer of the laptop, or if you have a desktop, go to the manufacturer of the video card, go to Download: Drivers, enter your specific information for make, model, and operating system.  Then download the driver, install it, and reboot the computer.

If you already have all updates you can apply, then you will either need to use a previous version of formZ (i.e., v7), or you will need to upgrade your video card.  The link below shows relative performance and pricing for most common video cards, and while this is primarily intended for Windows users, the cards that also work for a Mac should have the same relative performance:

We hope this helps, and please let us know if you have any further questions.
