Texture map errors

I am having an interesting problem that I could use some advice on.  I have an older model that I would like to use Maxwell on and a lot of the textures (about 50) have spaces between the words that describe the texture map.  Like "wood cherry 2".  Rebus render farm rejects the Maxwell file and the log says it is due to bad file names.  I have started to rename each and every file and then re link each file to the correct material.  This has turned into hours of work.  Has anyone found a simpler solution to this problem?  Is there another render farm that will allow spaces?

One interesting problem that has cropped up this morning is that when I go to rename the image map and re load it into Form.z the program bogs down considerably.  If I click on a new texture and load it in Form.z then hit the Okay button the program takes about 45 seconds to load.

Hello Andrew,

1. I think Ranch Computing render farm will allow the spaces.

2. I have the same problems with the Materials & Materials Parameters palettes really bogging down once files get beyond a certain size.

I am working on a Mac Pro, what is your machine?

I have an i7 3.6 ghz and I think I need to double my ram.  Which means a new computer.  I had a feeling that if I bought Maxwell the real cost of the program would be hidden in the upgrade to new hardware and/or the use of a render farm.  Everything was working pretty well this morning until I added a little more geometry and a few more texture maps and then WHAM!.  Everything came to a grinding halt.  Textures are slow to load, palettes open and close slowly, switching from FMZ material to Maxwell material takes 30 seconds,  FMZ constantly shows a "not responding" message.  If I take Maxwell out of my plugin folder everything behaves just fine.  However,  I have now invested over 50 hours into trying to convert this one file over to use Maxwell and I am reluctant to start over by recreating my lighting in FMZ.    It is a real shame that the  20% improvement in quality with Maxwell comes with a 90% reduction in speed.  Still praying for VRay some day.

Andrew,

The Maxwell plugin does not consume any resources when palettes are opened and closed, or when the material representation is changed. If there is some inefficiency introduced when another rendering plugin is loaded, then it is something that autodessys will need to address. (Renderzone does not count; because it is developed by formZ, it is not integrated in exactly the same way as a 3rd party plugin.)

If you are experiencing delays, you will need to send your file and all dependencies to autodessys, and provide steps to reproduce.

It is very possible that the issue has nothing to do with Maxwell, and instead with the number (or perhaps, pixel dimensions or file format) of the image maps used in your file. I have experienced an issue with 8.0.2 where use of texture maps can result in a bit of a delay after manipulating Material parameters, regardless of whether Maxwell is in use or not. I have reported these issues to autodessys support. If you would help by submitting your files, your issue-- whether related or not-- will likely be solved sooner.

Hi Andrew,

Yes, if you have a file that is behaving more slowly than you would like, please send a portion of the file that shows the behavior as Pylon suggests so we can investigate the cause.  Please also let us know which palettes are being slow, and any other relevant details so we can reproduce -- and address this.
