formZ still won't stop a HL Render for me

The topic pretty much says it all. formZ still will not stop a HL render once I start it. I'm not talking about "not being as responsive to a quit command as we would wish", it just will flat out will not stop a HL render other than by finishing it, or by using Force Quit.

12 core Mac Pro, Yosemite, FZ 8.0.2

Guess I should just remove the HL button from the Tool Bar, but every once in a while I do want to do them. It's just when I accidentally hit it...

Am I alone in this problem?

TBH I'm finding Hidden Line to better than ever. Yes, sometimes it can still take a long time to generate for some detailed and large models.

Don't get me wrong Doug, I think escaping from the HL calculation should be relatively instant.

Although it's a lot better than before, it was never instant to cancel.

Hi Doug,

Yes, there are some cases where the Hidden Line rendering will not cancel.  We are investigating this, and hopefully we can find a solution in the not too distant future.  Thanks for the reminder.

If you are hitting the command by accident, you can always remove the tool icon and / or key shortcut if you want.  And if you do need the render mode, you can just select it from the Display Menu if you want...

Des,

I'd agree that HL as a render is certainly faster than it used to be, and when I want to use it I am almost always happy with the results (there are some cases where it doesn't do a great job, but for the most part it is awesome). But when I accidentally hit it and know that the model is complex enough that it will be 30 minutes or so before the render is done I really do want to be able to get out of it. Not instant would be okay by me, but this just refuses to cancel no matter how long or how often I try.

Tech,

Glad you're still trying to find out the how and why of this. I'll probably just do a rearrange of the tool icons or get rid of it as you say. Right now I stupidly have it right next to the Maxwell Icon, so I really am just asking for trouble...especially using a Wacom Tablet rather than a mouse. It's a bit to easy to just shift to the left a bit while you're moving the pen down to click....

Thanks,

Doug
