Alan Cooper
This is an observation. FormZ 7. Trying to move a turned furniture knob component from one position to another. The knob has a lot of topography and despite being a simple, 3mb file, FormZ struggles to cope, with a repetitive cycle of screen flashes, lots of fan noise and temporary 'FormZ is not working' in Task Manager [Windows]. It turns out quite a lot of snaps were active, if I just use one snap mode at a time, it enables FormZ to cope, concentrating on just the part of the topography needed. Maybe obvious to some, but it took me a while to recognise the cause of the severe slow-down, and it can be even worse when autosave activates. Tech
Hi Alan, Yes, if you have a lot of curving Smooth geometry in a file, using the Key Point Snaps, and to some degree, the Intersection snap can be somewhat computationally intensive, so it is a good idea to turn these off when they are not actively being used.
